Alison Sudol

What’s her deal?: Alison Sudol, a.k.a. A Fine Frenzy, is (another) talented young singer-songwriter. Last.fm recommended her because I like Vienna Teng and Sara Bareilles, and I’m so glad they did! I was able to preview her whole album “One Cell in the Sea” on their site and have been listening to it over and over again since then. Her voice is distinctive — less sweet than Vienna’s and less powerful than Sara’s, but somehow compelling. I’m generally a fan of piano accompaniment, and while it doesn’t stand out particularly in A Fine Frenzy’s songs, it provides a melodious backup for her reflective lyrics, which have some cool imagery (another reason she’s a good recommendation for fans of Vienna Teng).
